Join the Columbus Apartment Association at the first General Membership Meeting of the year on March 11 at Brookside Country Club beginning with a meet and greet at 11:30 am followed by a luncheon and keynote presentation detailing trends in the Columbus apartment market.

Daniel Hogan, Director of Research with RED Capital Group will update members on current trends in the multifamily market. He directs Market Research and reporting activities for RED Capital Group, performing research on the multifamily and senior housing industries. His presentation will include updates on how the labor market and job cuts translate to multifamily housing, the fourth quarter 2009 trends of Class A, B and C properties in the area, changes in rent in 2009 and what can be expected in 2010. Mr. Hogan will outline current vacancy and rent trends and break down the statistics based on location, class and quarter outlining what that may mean for 2010. Attendees will hear the employment forecast for 2010 and going forward and they will learn what that job creation will mean for their business. Finally, Mr. Hogan will cap off his presentation by outlining supply trends, breaking down the apartment submarkets by area and detailing supply set to enter the market in 2010.

Following Mr. Hogan, Rob Vogt with VWB Research will address the trends behind the headlines. Mr. Vogt has conducted and reviewed over 5,000 market analyses over the past 30 years for market-rate and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit apartments as well as studies for single-family, golf course/residential, office, retail and elderly housing throughout the United State. The multifamily industry is making headlines more than ever and Mr. Vogt will detail the information that goes into the creation of the headline. His portion will include the implications of the growing vacancy rate, how multifamily will need to change to respond to renters and why renters or choosing to rent and what factors go into choosing location and dwelling.
