The Capital Awards
May 7th, 2026 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM Columbus Museum of Art On Thursday, May 7 over 200 members of the CAA, family and friends gathered at the Columbus Museum of Art to celebrate the stars of the multifamily housing industry in Central Ohio and the leaders who paved their way. The CAA Capital Awards were resurrected after an absence of over 20 years and after 18 months of planning to the delight of an exuberant crowd in attendance. After receiving over 100 nominations in 13 categories the judges narrowed down each category to the top individuals, properties or companies. Prior to the awards ceremony, the finalists, their invited friends, family and colleagues convened at the Edwards Court in the Museum for a private cocktail hour allowing them time to reflect and bask in their accomplishments. Finalists were entertained by the Charles Grace Band, treated to appetizers, and given a chance to make their own flower bouquet. Just before 5:00 finalists joined guests in the auditorium ready with anticipation to see who would win each award. Workgroup Chairs, Benji Jackson and Kara Thompson, welcomed everyone and thanked them for making the event a success by submitting nominations and with their attendance prior to turning the podium over to Mike Lange with Coastal Ridge Real Estate to emcee the event. The program kicked off with the recognition of the newest class of CAA Hall of Fame Members, 2011 President Steve Hess, 2018-2019 President David Holzer and CAA Executive Director Laura Swanson. Each was honored for their leadership, service and achievements with the CAA before being presented with their Hall of Fame plaques. After congratulating the Hall of Fame recipients, Lange moved into presenting the Capital Awards occasionally being joined by sponsors, Noelle Smith, Redwood Living, Trisha Hendrickson, Chadwell Supply, Kendra Miller, BRG Realty Group and Benji Jackson, Star High Management. Each presented a portion of the 13 awards, and each award was met with much celebration, excitement and joy as colleagues cheered for both the nominees and the winners. Following the announcement of all the awards, the crowd returned to Edwards Court to continue celebrating, take photos, watch the artist, Charlie DeMint, finish the original artwork won by Steve Hess and donated back to the CAA with proceeds benefiting the CAA Community Assistance Foundation. It was revelatory evening allowing those in the industry to join together in comradery and celebration and one that will not soon be forgotten. ⭐Winners⭐ Best Amenities Package of the Year
