The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio, a 501c3 non-profit based out of Franklinton. The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio has been in the Columbus community since 1998 and has helped serve over 83,000 individuals and families with furniture and essential home goods. They will pick up donated goods throughout the Columbus communities and make sure they go to those in need who truly need them. The Furniture Bank works with a wide variety of groups to source items for the families they help, including apartment complexes, rentals, hotels, universities, restaurants, residential homes, and more. Last year they picked up over 54,000 pieces of furniture in the local community.
The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is a resource for any unneeded items. They do whatever possible to limit items going to the landfill and make sure they end up in the home of someone who can still use those items. Many properties struggle with the leftover items, unneeded waste and even being able to provide resources for residents. The Furniture Bank accepts almost every type of item, including used mattresses.
They will offer headquarters in Franklinton to get a better idea of who they are and how they operate, they're nearing the finish of opening a new 53,000 sq ft warehouse, on-site, in the middle of Franklinton and are hopeful that it will allow service of more families in need as the 3rd largest furniture bank in North America. There is also a third Furniture Bank with a Heart thrift store and satellite furniture bank location opening in Newark in July.
