Golf Outing

Sold Out Golf Outing Scores a Hole in One for CAA Member

The CAA held its annual Golf Outing on August 30, 2021, not only returning to New Albany Country Club but to the format members have grown to know and love over the years.   Over 140 golfers and a variety of sponsors came back to the course for a fun-filled day of scramble golf, games, food, and friendly competition.
Golfers were given time to play on the practice green and range while enjoying breakfast and bloody Mary’s prior to being directed to their starting tee for the 9:00 a.m. shot gun start.  After teeing off they continued to make their way through the North and West courses visiting with CAA Members on their sponsored holes some playing games, posing for photos, grabbing a snack or a drink and learning about products, services, or companies. In a return to tradition that was missed at last year’s event, all sponsors made their respective holes stand apart with various products or unique games creating a light, cheerful atmosphere for the golfers throughout the day.

Golfers were welcomed at registration with a continental breakfast provided by Famous Supply.  Unified Residential took to the course mid-day to deliver the sponsored boxed lunches to each golfer and sponsor.  Liberty Restoration Group sponsored this year’s scorecards.  AppFolio sponsored the 19th Hole after party alongside Schottenstein Real Estate Group who sponsored the Dinner and Awards.  And a special thanks to The Affordable Housing Trust of Columbus and Franklin County for being this year’s Tournament Sponsor.

After close to six hours of golf, golfers and sponsors enjoyed drinks and food in the ballroom anxiously awaiting the awards and swapping stories about their day.

CAA President Brian Schottenstein opened the ceremony by thanking everyone for attending and had the privilege of announcing the winner of the 50/50 benefitting the CAA Community Assistance Foundation.  With the first draw Ryan West with American Leak Detection took home over $600.  New Albany Country Club Pro Cory Luke then had the pleasure of announcing the winners.

There were two skins at the event with two teams splitting the $360 total skins pot including one winning a skin because of a hole in one!  One skin was taken home by the Schottenstein Real Estate Group and the other with the Hole in One by Shaw Floors.  Proximity winners include Longest Drive Winners:  Greg Lock and Sarah Chang, Longest Putt Winners:  Shawn Yancik and Closest to the Pin:  Tom Kerr and Sarah Chang.
Finally, the 2021 CAA Challenge Cup champions were announced. The top three teams were awarded gift certificates and trophies.

Winning third place in a scorecard playoff with a 16 under par was the team of Richard Baldini, Jonathan Priest, Bill Grub and Shawn Bernowski (Link Real Estate Group).  Winning second in a scorecard playoff tying the winners with a 19 under par was the team of Jason Carpenter, Brad Harvey, Heath Harvey and Mitch Dawson (Environmental Pest Management).  Winning in the scorecard playoff was the team of Brian Schottenstein, Tom Miles, James Koon and Scott Pickett (Schottenstein Real Estate Group).
The CAA would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Golf Outing.  We look forward to seeing you at a future CAA event.
