Naloxone (name brand “NARCAN”) is a safe, effective, easy-to-use medication that can reverse the effects of opioids within 2 minutes, and can save someone’s life if they are experiencing an opioid overdose. Franklin County Public Health can provide naloxone to individuals and agencies who want to have it in their first aid kits or carry it with them in case they encounter an emergency overdose situation. There are two ways to obtain this naloxone:
We can send up to 6 naloxone kits per person in the mail, anywhere in Ohio. To receive mail-order naloxone please follow this link (I will also attach a QR code): https://myfcph.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eKCtMMbJKmWKv5A. You will be directed to watch a brief video training about naloxone, and then fill out a form to receive your kit(s) in the mail. We mail kits within a week of receiving the request.
If you would like more than 6 kits, and/or would like to pick these kits up in person, email me at [email protected], and we can schedule a time for you to pick up naloxone from our office. There is no limit to how much naloxone an agency can request through this method.
Franklin County Public Health also offers naloxone trainings for agencies within our jurisdiction. This one-hour training, which can be either virtual or in-person, is provided by a medical presenter and a naloxone trainer, and goes over types of opioids, facts and statistics about substance use disorders, resources, how to recognize an opioid overdose, and how to provide naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose. If you are interested in this training for your staff, clients, or community group, please fill out this form: https://myfcph.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cOzp0e2kef0FGC2 or email me at [email protected].
