CAA Reverse Raffle Drama Builds to Single Winner
The 2024 CAA Reverse Raffle, benefiting the CAA Community Assistance Foundation, brought intense, high stakes drama for the second year in a row as the drama reached a fever pitch in anticipation of who would take home the $2,000 Grand Prize or if it would be split. Once again, the event was held at Woodland’s Backyard on Thursday, November 7 with attendees enjoying food, drinks, good company, and a chance to win not only the grand prize but a liquor basket valued at $400 worth of alcohol and accessories.
The evening began with cocktails and appetizers escalating into raucous conversations before getting into the Raffle. Danny Fickel, with 614 Contractors returned as emcee and welcomed everyone, thanking them for their generosity throughout the year making the Community Assistance Foundation awards possible.
After reviewing the rules everyone was ready to get started for the rapid-fire elimination of numbers leading to the ultimate Grand Prize. But first, the “Grand Prize Loser” went to the Unified Residential who won back their $125 ticket price being the first number removed from the board. Attendees excitedly watched as the numbers were removed one by one. Those eliminated early were disappointed to be the final winner, 11 non-winning attendees received one of the consolation door prizes generously donated by sponsors.
When only five numbers remained: 614 Contractors, BRG Realty Group, LLC, Buckeye Real Estate, Metropolitan Holdings and ServPro, representatives were called forward to discuss whether to split or continue. With the rules requiring a unanimous decision the five opted to continue. The next number eliminated removed ServPro from contention. The four remaining contenders once again opted to continue after not reaching a unanimous decision. Next, Buckeye Real Estate was eliminated. After another round of deliberation and a split decision, another number was drawn eliminating 614 Contractors. Leaving just two numbers left on the board there was much angst in making the decision to continue or split the pot. Ultimately, there was not consensus, and the final number was drawn eliminating BRG Realty Group and awarding Metropolitan Holdings the whole $2,000 grand prize. While deliberating the final playing cards were drawn for the liquor basket with Bree McQuesten with Birge and Held was the last card standing taking home the prize.
The CAA Community Assistance Foundation would not be able to provide outreach to charities without participation from members at events like the Reverse Raffle. The Foundation Board would like to thank everyone for their donations by purchasing a ticket, door prize or sponsoring the event. Congratulations to this year’s lucky winners.
